selsey bill around 6.30-1pm

Not lots moving but still ARCTIC,sandwich,common,little Terns, Arctic Skua,and one Skua out far
swallows in off,a HOBBY in off, bar-tailed godwit,sandling,knot,whimbrel,curlew,ostercatcher,
ARCTIC tern is a first and Hobby for sussex list to.  now at 187 in sussex.




Bempton Cliffs tomorrow for puffins l hope....

RYE Harbour

headed to Harbour farm for grasshopper warbler and saw two in bushes
no pic,s but heard lots of calling lots of other birds around that sat up for
pic's lesser whitethroat,whitethroat,sedge warbler,reed warbler,reed bunting,
common terns,sandwich terns,med gulls,B H gulls, Herring gulls,lapwings,
kestrels,grey heron,avocet,redshank,mute swans,cuckoo heard,linnits,
cormorants,tuftduck,pochard,G crested grebe,
my new bird today was the grasshopper warbler 185 in sussex now
 med
 lesser whitethroat
 sedge
 next terns
avocets all paired up

Ashdown forest & Arlington dam & Beachy head

Started at the forest  me and john saw the wood warbler then of to Arlington dam garden warbler,turtle dove,3 common sandpipers,white wagtail,pied wagtail,whitethroat,
turtle dove flow twice

then off to beachy head
for Orchids & butterflies
first time seeing Green Hairstreak,& dingy Skipper,
saw speckled wood,red admiral,small copper,orange-tip,brimstone,

weirwood res & ashdown forest morning out

l started at weirwood dam end
with a common sandpiper on the water level.
then me and john king saw a garden warbler at the corner of the dam.
Then we headed to ashdown forest for the Wood warbler
it was singing well.



Then we moved on to the old lodge
lots to see here tree pipit,woodlark,redstart,stonechat,



sussex year list is now up to 183..

Sea Watch at Splash Point

Arrived at around 7am saw
sandwich terns,fulmars,gannet,common scoter,red thoated diver,
arctic skua 9, great skua 3,ostercatcher,peregrine,iceland gull.
Then went to shooters bottom for the pied flycatcher but mist it
when l walked up the wrong path.but got lesser whitethroat their.
two new one's for my year list 179 now


Early Spider Orchids 6 plants seen to day.

weirwood res & ashdown forest

started at the dam with 2 little ringed plover,2 common tern's,manderin,grey heron,
moved on to the forest and saw cuckoo,sparrowhawk,woodlark,redstart,linnit,
whitethroat,stonechat.





lots of lizards around this was a small one warming up.

ashdown forest

Headed to old lodge but road was closed for repair.
so off to a car park near long car park.
and had a cuckoo fly over woodlark,stonechat,linnit,
chaffinch,whitethroat,blue tit,carrion crow,redpoll,chiffchaff,
willow warbler,




then poped in to weirwood res west end
common buzzard,manderin,cormorant,stock dove,nuthatch,blue tit,long tailed tit

Arlington reservoir and splash point

Me and John headed to arlington for the red-rumped but no sign this morning
but saw a male wheatear,grey + pied wagtails,swallows,
COMMON TERN,goldfinch,heard nightingale and cuckoo.
Then went to Splash point for a sea watch
WHIMBREL,common tern,LITTLE TERN,sandwich tern,ARCTIC SKUA,
med gull,red throated diver,black throated diver, common scoter,
shelduck,bartailed godwit,swallows in off,
4 more for my sussex list now 177

Arlington reservoir in the evening

AT Arlington Thanks to Jake's  text. l walked the dam and a osprey
was fishing on forth go he got one then on the way back to the car

steyning south downs way

straight to the downs and yes the ring ouzel was there but still no pic,s.
others birds around were red kite,common buzzard,sparrowhawk,
yellowhammer,linnit,blackbirds,wheatear,whitethroat,blackcap,
dunnock,jackdaw,carrion crow, rook,red-legged partridge,
pheasant,CORN BUNTING,



this one stayed in deep..
