Birling Gap & Beachy Head

Me and John started at Birling Gap working on better pic,s
of stonechats and wheatears.



Then moved on to Beachy head we got shown the tawney owl by the beachy head blog people
thank you for that and yes its well hiden.
then up the hill to the lighthouse and we saw 3 black redstarts one male.

The walk back to the car was good with a kestrel and a pair of peregrine
 mating on top of beachy head cliff.
 This is the female after.

ivy lake & Fishbourne creek

At ivy lake the little gull was still their and gadwall,tufted,cetti's,GBB gulls,herring,common,BH gull,
At Fishbourne creek greenshank,brent,redshank,spotted redshank,little egret,Knot,dunlin,curlew,black-tailed godwit,turnstone,lapwing,grey plover,oystercatcher,coot,mute swans,

weirwood res

Started at the dam with a pied wagtail, walked down to the lagon and a mandarin in the stream.
Chiffchaff all around and a female bullfinch, then 60+ fieldfare and some redwings moving passed.
A pair of grey wagtails on the dam.



Then moved to the west end nuthatch, greater spotted woodpecker,
a pair of shovelers, tufed duck, cormorants,grey heron,coot,moorehen,
mallard,lots of great crested grebe,canada geese,

pulborough brook & seaford head

Started at the brook at 6.30 am and heard drummimg in the area of the church.
when the sun came through the mist a lovely group of redpoll,siskin,linnit,and
brambling arrived at the top a tree in the heathland.as we waited for a lesser
spotted woodpecker to show.




Then at 8 ish moved on to seaford head looking around at hope gap we found stonechat,wheatear,linnit,
meadow pipit,fulmar,common scoter,curlew,raven,shelduck.


and a wren walking back to the car.

old lodge

At the old lodge today was wood lark,siskin,redpoll,goldcrest,
raven,carrion crow,wren,chaffinch,
and that wood lark gets me to 156 for the year now...

East Head & Bracklesham Bay

Me and John started at bracklesham bay walked along the beach and
watched a peregrine chasing a meadow pipit but didn't see the outcome.
Then moved on to see the spoonbill feeding and a pair of garganey , 2 avocet,
2 common buzzard. the sun haze was no go for distant pic,s but here they are.




Then moved on to east head and saw the Ruddy Shelduck with the brent geese.


as you can see this bird has no leg rings or wing tags.

RYE Harbour & Castle water

hi
early start 5.30 am got to Rye at 7.30 and went of to find the spoonbill.
In the mist at the far end of wade pool at the new hide it was their.

Sorry only pic as when l got round to the new hide it was gone. l meet some
one how saw it but it flow off to castle water direction but l went there
 and didn't see it again.
sandwich terns are all around 61 on one side and more at Ternery pool 20+ med gulls
their to and avocets at long pool.


Castle water was a bit slow lots of nest building.
