Rye harbour

Headed to rye after starting the walk round the site a mist came in of the sea.
still saw ringed plover,golden plover,redshank,dunlin,lapwing,LBB gull
herring gull,blackheaded gull, Med gull,cormorant,oystercatcher,turnstone,
gadwall,teal,,mallard,coot,moorehen,curlew,

then went to pett level and it started to rain so headed home.....

Bexhill

Me & john headed of to Bexhill as the waxwings had lots of berries to eat.
l thought we had a good chance to see them.
l was right 24 waxwing on top of a telephone pole
at st James road. and st James avenue.
good views on pole and feeding close by on red berries
then a sparrowhawk came over so they move to a higher
place on a tree then the sparrowhawk came back so they fled.

At ivy lake today gadwall,pochard,mallard,shoveler,tufty,coot,moorehen,little grebe,
great crested grebe,mute swan, goldeneye,cormorant,blue tit,great tit,long tailed tit,
robin,black headed gull, herring gull,

and a common buzzard on route

morning out

had a short trip this morning to west dean woods. lots of birds feeding in the woods

Birling gap & hope gap areas

First stop we saw a pair of raven's displaying and on the second stop another pair.
peregrine were around the same area.


The birds Dived & Played.



Then some sun shine that felt like spring has coming.
with house sparrows, and jackdew's in the birling gap area.

The Ravens gets me to 145 in sussex now.

swanbourne lake & climping & west dean

had a walk around swanbourne lake with the ducks and 2 common buzzard 2 cormorant
2 little grebe 5 gadwall.
then off to climping beach a black-throated diver on the sea common scoter ,razorbill, turnstone,
sanderling, meadow pipit ,skylark,80+ brent moving east.
3 sanderling moving with the turnstone's on the seafront. med gull drifted east.









Then of to west dean
arrived at the farm
then moved to the corner to wait for hawfinch again no show
good to watch  buzzard in the air some times
close views. and yellowhammer stop on the wire in the field

highdown hotel & widewater

started at highdown hill at the golf course a grounds man saw the hooded crow friday and then it was seen saturday but no joy for use today walked around and drove around but no sign today.
so next stop was widewater and shoreham scaup closer today no sigh of red-breasted merganser today.

to windy at littlehampton
and south downs then rain so home for 3.00pm hope the sun is back tomorrow.

saturday 5th sea watch

straight to fishbourne creek to get the tide right .
john spotted the little stint and we saw the spotted redshank
the little stint was half way down the channel and winds were strong
pic's were hard to get clear.when we left brent had moved to the field.
then at selsey bill stayed by the seat out of the wind 11.00 to 11.30
the birds were close but not lots moving gannets,turnstone a slav grebe close .
med gull,redshank,razorbills,

benbow pond & west dean

At Benbow pond 2 nice Egyptian geese was a good start

then on to west dean we could hear the buzzard's then great veiw's as they came over
the trees just behind us.As we waited for a chance to see hawfinch's then moved to the woods.
looking for firecrest or crossbill's. but we got lucky and saw 2 red kite drift north past us
with buzzard's still up over the top of the red like.

coldwaltham sewage works & pulborough brooks

started at the sewage works meadow and water pipit,grey and pied wagtail,redwing,fieldfare,
 meadow pipit
 water pipit
water pipit in second filter bed
2 common buzzards,peregrine
then of to pulborough hoping for male hen harrier not today
all the normal birds and 6 bullfinch near west mead hide



the water pipit  got me to 140 for the year.
