ashdown forest long car park

At long car park by 10 am
then walked down the main path then round the 3rd right turning and back up the path
and got a short look at the great grey shrike. As l moved  it was gone that was at 11.09
then walked around the area till 2 pm and saw.
6+ redpoll's, 2 male chaffinch's,2 robin's, 1 reed bunting,3 magpie's,2 carrion crow's,
3 blue tit's,1 coal tit,a stock dove.

selsey bill 8.00-11.00 and barnham

me and john started at selsey north wind and cold
2 great skua's east

250+ auk's east lot's were razorbill's
13+ slav grebe's on the sea and a female eider

and a sandwich tern.2 common scoter some brent geese all east and a black throated diver east.
then to barnham

and 1 bewick

west dean

at west dean today got to see a male brambling with the chaffinch's 100+
as we started to freeze we got a grey wagtail and pied wagtail

and a treecreeper as we looked for the little owl that was calling close by.

found a nice pair of tawny owl's

THORNEY ISLAND and fishbourne creek

Today Thorney island turned up 3 short-eared owls one out in the open one showing not as well and one in deep but can see through the scope.

avocet,s goldeneye,red-brested merganser,brent, all in the channel
to the east of Thorney.
then of to fishbourne brent in the field and curlew

other birds to note are goldeneye,spotted redshank,ringed plover grey plover,dunlin,
little egret,common buzzard,pintail,wigeon,teal,(sparrowhawk john saw),skylark,common snipe.

newhaven

a short trip out to newhaven looked round the fort then down to the bottom of the cliff.
john spotted the fulmars.then we saw Jackdaws an some meadow and rock pipits around
but worked on better pic's of the fulmars today.

the light was gone quick in the afternoon. got to 131 birds so far this year now.

selsey bill 8.30-9.30 and pagham north wall

hi  selsey was north wind cold sea karma than last week with a great northen diver on the sea

10 red-breasted merganser moving west and on the sea. a female eider on the sea 40+ turnstone's going west ,30+ sanderling  moving west gannet's, and a seal close to shore.

after a hour l moved on to pagham the north wall
with the normal duck and then at the bridge a kingfisher flow in
close till it saw me then gone lots of birds up a though times
black-tailed godwit
and lapwing's

and brent geese going from field to harbour and back again.

good to see was a female scaup and a barnacle goose.

long car park ashdown forest

my third go for the shrike and a none sigthing this afternoon.
But l did see a male hen harrier,  crow's, greater spotted woodpecker's,



wood pigeon, robin, goldcrest, and lesser redpoll's
will have to try again..

afternoon at warnham


a sunny afternoon at warnham just the normal birds around
pochard's diving and getting  covered in mud at north end.
no sign of the water rail.

selsey bill 8.30-11.00

the birds came mutch closer today on a sea watch with justin at the bill .

some birds were on a feeding frenzy 50m out to sea
the birds in this group where gannets,cormorants,gulls, and some razorbills.
all the divers black-throated,red-throated,and great northern diver.

then we found a red -necked grebe, great crested and slavonian grebes


wow my best sea watch by far.

quick trip to the coast

A misty day at the beach started at shoreham harbour with ringed plovers at the river in to the harbour. At the old fort see a rock pipit then off to widewater were their was a med gull on one of the posts and 7 red-breasted merganser 4 male's. Then went to lewis and see a male peregrine. Then to newhaven east arm for purple sandpipers saw about 6 moving under the pier.
camera stayed in the bag most of the day ....

THORNEY ISLAND

Hi
At Thorney today john spotted a short-eared owl

and 19+ red -breasted merganser 5 goldeneye one male,

kestel,brent geese,little egret,grey plover,dunlin,greenshank,
then rain started so back to the car and home.
but as we were leaving we saw geese so looking over a gate to the field
we so canada,greylag,white-front, then got the pink-footed goose with them
a new one for my sussex list that 4 new birds this year.

west sussex trip

hi started at coldwaltham sewage works with 4 chiffchaff,a goldcrest,and no sign of the
water pipit for me and john yet. then to amberley levels wigeon , 2 mute swan,s and canada
greylag,and white-front 50+ of all.
then the burgh we saw yellowhammer,grey partridge,2 kestrels,common buzzard,linnet,
at north stoke we saw the bewick swan's 
good day for swan's

me and john headed to widewater
we saw lesser black-backed gull, 2 female scaup, razorbill, guillemot,gannet, cormorant,
herring,black-headed,brent geese,tufted duck,common scoter,pochard,little grebe,
slavonian grebe,great crested grebe,red-throated diver,turnstone,


sparrowhawk,marsh tit, this gets me to 108 now
